MALLIA. On March 17, ANGELA, passed away peacefully at the venerable age of 102, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her sisters Judith, widow of Adolf Costa and Erminia, wife of Joseph Rizzo, in-laws, her nephews and nieces, especially her nephew Joseph and his wife Gladys, other relatives and friends. PACE-O'SHEA. On March 16, at St James Capua Hospital, Sliema, ANTHONY GERALD, passed away peacefully at the age of 74, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his loving wife Cecilia, née Bellizzi, his only daughter Oonagh and her husband Nicholas Forster, his cherished grandchildren, William, Edward and Georgina, his sister Mina and her husband Tony Micallef Valenzia, his in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St James Capua Hospital today at 2.30 p.m. for Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery chapel where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3 p.m., followed by interment. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Sister Roberta of the Ursuline Sisters, Sister Doris of the Salesian Sisters in Tunisia, Vince, Raphael and his wife Frances and Richard and his wife Rosanne, her brother and sisters, Freddie and his wife Ġemma, Ċettina and Rita, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 9 a.m. for Sacro Cuor parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.30 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Sacred music concert

The Sliema Philharmonic Society and the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Feast Commission will be presenting a vocal and instrumental concert of sacred music by the University Junior College Ensemble on March 30 at 8 p.m. at the Culture Performance Hall of the Sliema Band Club, 34, St Trophimus Street, Sliema.

The ensemble will be conducted by Manoel Pirotta. Entry is free.

Soundtracks at the Manoel

The Italian Cultural Institute and Fiesole Artistic Productions will be marking the 150th anniversary of the Unità d'Italia by hosting a piano concert on May 15.

The concert will feature pianists Federica and Francesca Badalini from the School of Music of Teatro alla Scala, Milan. They will be performing works from famous film soundtracks.

Film critic Tony Cassar Darien will give a synopsis of each film's contents and characteristics from a musical perspective.

Psycho-educational course

The Mental Health Association Malta is organising its annual psycho-educational course for families of people suffering from mental illness and professionals interested in the field.

The course consists of 12 lectures and starts tomorrow. Lectures are delivered every Friday till the end of May at the Floriana Primary School, St Thomas Street, Floriana. Attendance is against a €12 donation by families and a €25 donation in the case of professionals. Call 7920 5620 for more information.

Open Day at medieaval chapel

An Open Day will be held at the medieval chapel at Ħal Millieri on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with Holy Mass at 10 a.m. The event will be held by Din l-Art Ħelwa to mark the feast of the Annunciation. Two guided tours by historians Stanley Farrugia Randon and Salvatore Moussu will be offered at 11.15 a.m. and at 3.15 p.m. Owing to ongoing road works on the Valletta-Żurrieq main road the chapel is best and easily reached from Diamond Jubilee Square (Tal-Mentna) at the end of the Mqabba bypass.

On Freedom Day, March 31, the Birżebbuġa local council will be holding a series of activities in the locality starting at 9.30 a.m. The first will be a walk from the church square to Prof. Anton Tabone Gardens.

Sacrifice week

The Social Assistance Secretariat of the Catholic Action Movement will be holding a week of sacrifice at the Malta Archdiocese between the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows and Good Friday, March 26 and April 2. The activity is endorsed by the ecclesiastical authorities.
