Updated: A Brazilian TAM Airlines A340-500 plane was damaged in an unusual collision involving a tow truck at Malta Airport this morning.

The tow truck ended up wedged beneath the central section of the fuselage. According to reports, the aircraft was being towed when the truck stopped, the plane moved forward on the gentle incline and the tow bar broke.

The aircraft was at the Lufthansa Tecknik facility.

The airport fire section was on the scene as a precaution.
