Air Malta is planning to operate an additional flight from Tripoli to Malta tomorrow at noon, along with the scheduled 8.10 p.m. flight, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said this evening.
The flights are subject to clearance by the Libyan authorities.
The ministry said relatives in Malta were being urged to tell members of their family or friends in Libya to make use of the flights.
The ministry said it was prepared to offer assistance on Freephone number 80072203 which is opena round the clock. Some 400 calls have been received so far.
The embassy in Tripoli was also available to offer assistance.
Air Malta yesterday and today have been prepared to operate up to five charter flights requested by employers to repatriate workers from Libya, but no clearance was given by the Libyan authorities.
Earlier today, it was reported that some seats were still available on tomorrow's scheduled flight. However officials explained that seats were being filled up right to the last minute. Air Malta is using a high configuration, all economy aircraft able to carry up to 180 passengers.
