Prior to any changes in employee work practices and numbers, Air Malta should appropriately address contracts signed with third parties, the Central Representative Council of Air Malta (CRC), which represents all the Air Malta employees, said.

It said that it was evident that these contracts were one of the major factors leading to the company's present precarious situation.

The council said that in his presentation to employees last week, CEO Peter Davis gave no detailed explanations of how and when such contracts were to be revised.

"The solution to Air Malta's problems does not consist of redundancies alone," the council said.
