The Armed Forces of Malta celebrated All Souls Day today with Mass at Luqa Barracks Chaplaincy followed by a Remembrance Service.

The event proceeded with a wreath-laying ceremony at the AFM's grave site at the Maria Addolorata Cemetery in Paola.

During Mass, officiated by the military chaplain Fr Joseph Meli, a eulogy for the recently departed Gunner Jesmond Mercieca who served at 'A' Company, 1st Regiment, was read.

The wreath-laying was led by AFM Commander, Brigadier Martin G Xuereb, and other senior staff officers, including Italian Military Mission commanding officer Colonel Rocco Vastola.

Remembrance Day, commemorating the two World Wars will be celebrated in Malta on November 13 at the Cenotaph in Floriana.
