The increasingly popular GIDA League, played on Sunday mornings at the Junior College in Msida, reached its conclusion recently with the Super Cup that was contested between champions Club 33 and cup holders AD2000.

AD2000, coached by Manfred Galdes, enjoyed their most successful season since they were formed five seasons ago by lifting both the GIDA KO, after beating Memories 5-4 on penalties, and the Super Cup, again on penalties after a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Club 33.

AD2000 goalkeeper Joe Esposito was decisive in both shoot-outs, saving a penalty on both occasions.

This season, the GIDA competitions attracted the participation of various established footballers with most of the teams registering former Premier League players in their ranks.

Apart from the championship, the KO and Super Cup, GIDA also held the Christmas Cup. Memories were the winners this season.
