Alternattiva Demokratika has called for the publication of details relating discussions between Ta' Ċenċ developers, Sannat council and environmental NGOs.

"The public has a right to consider if any development of Ta' Ċenċ can be reconciled with the government's policy of Gozo as an eco-island," AD said.

AD said the Sannat mayor should also inform residents of the council's position on the plans, claiming it is unacceptable that he has chosen to remain silent on such an important issue. Ta' Ċenċ is designated as an Important Bird Area due to the presence of breeding colonies of rare birds.

AD is concerned that development plans might proceed despite the fact that Malta is subject to a pending infringement procedure from the European Commission for insufficient special protection area designation at Ta' Ċenċ.

AD also urged other political parties to declare their position on the development plans.
