After a long and fruitful theatre season, actress Isabel Warrington has come up with a light hearted and comical collection of paintings about her theatrical experiences.

A name synonymous with theatre, Ms Warrington is as fluid with her paintbrush as she is with her lines.

With a collection of 31 paintings, executed mainly in inks, pastels and acrylic, she has chosen to display them at Café Diva, the Manoel Theatre courtyard.

Most of the work was inspired by her performances in the Christmas Pantomime: grotesque make-up and bold colours are her trademark, as are the curvacious, elongated bodies and clean lines.

Many of the figures represent people she has actually worked with in the theatre, which make the exhibition a very personal account.

Isabel has worked in the graphic design industry for several years, mainly on publications. However, she is keen to explore new territory and focus more on illustration and art which she feels are much more liberating than working towards deadlines.

Although art has always been a part of her life since early childhood, she has only recently taken it up as a full-time career.

The exhibition opens today and will run until November 22.
