The Singles League has been progressing steadily over the past weeks and the various division tables have now taken a definite shape following the latest round of matches played.

In the Second Division, Daniel Abdilla (Birkirkara Medairco) still retains the leadership of the provisional table though his previous three-point lead has now been cut to a single point.

By winning both his matches, including the direct encounter with Abdilla, Patrick Cassar has advanced from a mid-table position to second place and within striking distance of the leader.

Karl Gambin retained his third placing, having defeated Jacqueline De Giovanni and then drew with Chris Spiteri (Essex Shuttles).

Standings: Abdilla 13; Cassar 12; Gambin 10; Spiteri 8; De Giovanni, Attard 4; Cassar 0.

In Division 3A, Albert Bezzina (Birkirkara Medairco) lost his unbeaten record at the hands of Paul Hili, who beat him in their head-to-head clash. Hili has now overtaken Bezzina at the top of the table.

Alfred Polidano retained his former third placing, having first defeated Fiorella Farrugia and then drew his match against Mark Briffa (Essex Shuttles) at the end of a very close encounter.

Standings: Hili 16; Bezzina 15; Polidano 11; Farrugia 10; Salomone, Briffa 6; Vella 4; Agius 0.

The Badminton Association activities continue on Sunday at St Martin's College with more fixtures from Division One of the Singles League and Divisions Two, Three and Four of the Doubles League. Play starts as usual at 9.30 a.m.
