A sudden change in atmospheric pressure yesterday caused what is known as a seiche - a phenomenon through which the sea water swept into the bay even entering shops.

The atmospheric pressure change caused the sea to behave in a tsunami-like manner with the tide seen withdrawing from the shore and then going back onto land.

Unlike in a tsanami, however, this was not the result of an earthquake but atmospheric changes.
