of an air raid siren during an activity at the Malta at War Museum in Couvre Porte, Vittoriosa.

Organised by Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna, the activity offered children aged between eight and 16 years old a hands-on opportunity to learn what living on the island during World War II was really like.

Over two sessions, one in the morning and another in the afternoon, children were shown original artefacts from World War II and told stories using audiovisual methods.

The children were also taught how to perform basic civil defence duties under war conditions and took part in a number of interactive displays and exercises.

FWA chairman Mario Farrugia said such activities were meant to broaden the knowledge of youngsters and their parents vis-à-vis wartime heritage and history.

The event was organised together with the Vittoriosa local council and was supported by Bank of Valletta.
