The board of the Environment and Planning Authority this morning refused to sanction two reservoirs in Mosta after finding that one of them actually has windows in it and is being used as a house. The other exceeded the allocated footprint.

This was the second time that Mepa refused to sanction the properties.

During a hearing this morning, the Mepa board members were told that the Authority had originally granted permits for the building of two reservoirs. However one of the purported reservoirs now had windows in it. It also featured a niche with a statue of Our Lady and a burglar alarm.

The board members noted that the other reservoir was bigger than allowed in the permit conditions.

Their owner, in seeking reconsideration of the first refusal, had promised to restore the structures to the permit conditions.
