I would like, through this newspaper, to pass on a complaint to the minister responsible of social services and the director of the said department.

In the last budget speech it was announced that ex-British servicemen are to benefit from the sum of Lm200 when their retirement pension is worked out.

I and a number of my colleagues have rung more than once on 159, we have called at our district social service office and we have sent e-mails to the department for information on the above and every time the answer is that this is being worked out and eventually we will receive a letter from the department. We are a population of under 400,000 people.

If there is one third of this number who are enjoying more than one pension, the figure would come down to 120,000. Nearly 120 days have gone by since October's budget speech and we are still in the dark about what we are qualifying for, and when. Or was this only a political gimmick?

We do need to know with no further delay because this is our daily bread and butter.
