The electorate should use this Saturday's MEP elections to send a clear message to the government and elect the best MEPs to represent Malta in the EU, PN general secretary Chris Said said today.

Speaking at a press conference on the last day of the electoral campaign,  Dr Said said that a year after being returned to power with a 36,000 majority, the labour government was clearly not delivering except with few exceptions to those close of the Labour Party and families of Labour MPs.

He said that at the same time the economy was showing clear indications of a down turn with increasing unemployment, lower exports and fewer retail sales.

The electorate now had the chance to tell the prime minister to change direction before it was too late.

Dr Said said that the PN, despite its limited resources, had conducted a positive campaign despite being in opposition.

He mentioned various examples of new proposals including constitutional amendments to end discrimination against persons with disabilities and a new scheme for patients to be given medical attention in private hospitals when care could not be given within a reasonable time in a state institution.
