Despite the bad weather last weekend, the three Division One matches went ahead as planned.

Playing twice in four days, Nadur Youngsters obtained victories over Għajnsielem and Sannat Lions. In the other match, Xewkija Tigers thrashed Xagħra United 6-2 to retain top spot.

Title hopefuls Nadur scored three goals in each half to rout Għajnsielem 6-1 with Claudio Antunes hitting a poker.

Milos Stojanovic opened the scoring and Antunes doubled Nadur’s lead before Anthony Portelli made it 3-0 eight minutes from half-time.

Għajnsielem pulled one back on 58 minutes through Manwel Cordina but Nadur hit back strongly and Antunes made it 4-1 as the Blacks were reduced to 10 players five minutes from time when substitute Joseph Azzopardi was sent off.

Antunes added two more goals to round up a comfortable win for Nadur.

The match between Xewkija and Xagħra had a balanced opening. Mark Camilleri fired Xewkija in front but the Blues levelled 10 minutes later through Michael Bezzina.

John Camilleri put Xewkija back in the driving seat on 23 minutes and, with Xagħra pushing more men forward in search of an equaliser, Xewkija launched a series of deadly counter-breaks.

Mark Camilleri and John Camilleri scored midway through the half and substitute Josmar Vella made it 5-1 seven minutes from time.

Xagħra’s Joseph Scerri scored the second goal for his side on 87 minutes but John Camilleri completed his hat-trick in the fourth minute of stoppage time for a final 6-2 scoreline.

Also on Sunday, Nadur captain Anthony Portelli scored a hat-trick in a deserved 3-0 win over Sannat.

Nadur found it hard to gain the upperhand early on as Sannat produced the better opportunities.

The Youngsters were unlucky when attempts by Saviour Attard and Antunes hit the crossbar but on 50 minutes, they were awarded a penalty for a foul on Portelli who converted from the spot.

Nadur doubled the score on 54 minutes, Portelli hitting home first-time and 10 minutes later the captain scored the third goal with a powerful drive from an angle.
