Mananni Sultana, a widow from Xagħra, turned 100 on July 11. Mrs Sultana had 10 children, is a grandmother of 23 and greatgrandmother of 27. The centenary birthday was marked with a concelebrated Mass led by Bishop Mario Grech, accompanied by a number of priests, including archpriest Mgr Carmelo Refalo, with the participation of the Chorus Urbanus choir, under the baton of Mro John Galea, at the Xagħra basilica. Xagħra mayor Joe Cordina, Gozo Minister Anton Refalo and Patricia Mercieca, wife of Franco Mercieca, Parliamentary Secretary for Active Ageing and Disability Rights, where present along with family and relatives, some of whom came over from Australia for this special occasion.
