A man who confessed to killing his neighbour’s three dogs and barbecuing them has been arrested by police in northern Mexico.

Police said Ulises Rodela, 39, told his neighbour he found the dogs in the street and turned them over to animal control. Officials there had no record of receiving them.

Officials were still trying to confirm whether Rodela sold the meat and food stands are to be tested for the presence of dog meat. (PA)

Headaches and weather

If you have a throbbing headache, it might be to do with the weather, re-search suggests.

Scientists have confirmed a link between lightning and headaches including migraines, in a study which found that lightning striking up to 25 miles away can increase the risk of headache by 31 per cent.

Thunderbolts also led to a 28 per cent increased risk of migraine. (PA)

Royal portraits reunited

A pair of portraits of King Henry VIII and his first wife Catherine of Aragon have been re-united for the first time in 500 years thanks to a sharp-eyed art expert.

Staff from the National Portrait Gallery discovered the picture of Catherine during a visit to Lambeth Palace where it was hung in a private room. It had previously been identified as being the King’s last wife, Catherine Parr, but tests of the painting and its frame revealed its true identity and showed it shared a similar background to an existing painting of Henry.

The paintings, both of which date from around 1520, go on show today at the National Portrait Gallery in central London. Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon were married for nearly 24 years. (AP)

Montana half-baked robbery

A man trying to rob a Montana pizza restaurant changed his mind as the clerk started to hand him money.

The raider broke down crying and ended up leaving with a pizza to feed his hungry family.

Helena Police Chief Troy McGee says a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a bandanna on his face entered a Papa John’s restaurant at midnight and handed the clerk a note demanding money.

The cashier started to comply, but then the man began crying and said he was just trying to provide for his family. The clerk offered to make a pizza and some chicken wings.

The man waited as the food was cooked, then walked out. (PA)
