In its efforts to support Starwood’s Global Strategy of reducing 30 per cent electricity and 20 per cent water consumption by 2020, The Westin Dragonara Resort has embarked on a project to conserve resources.

The project, called Make A Green Choice, provides guests with a daily opportunity to decline housekeeping services.

In recognition for their participation, guests are rewarded with a choice of a food and beverage credit at participating hotel venues, points, or allowing the hotel to donate these points to Unicef’s environmental work for children on their behalf.

Make A Green Choice is the next evolution in green housekeeping practices and is an enhancement of other green initiatives such as linen re-use and the green room programme currently in place, the Westin said.

It offers guests a choice between full housekeeping service, participation in reuse linen programme, or opting out of all services with room attendants not entering the guest room at all.
