Vandals threw tables and windows from the roof of the old Holiday Inn building in Tigne Street, Sliema, last weekend. It is becoming a regular occurrence.
Perhaps this is to be expected when developers just abandon a building unsecured for years on end while they wait for a planning permission to develop a 40-storey hotel. The police were called at 4.45pm on Sunday and again at 5.15pm to be assured that a report had been lodged. By 6.30pm, we gave up waiting outside for the police to arrive.
What will it take a table or window frame to fall on a pedestrian?
