A week-long diabetes awareness campaign was recently held in Gozo.

The campaign opened with a one-day event in Victoria and was extended for a week throughout all pharmacies in Gozo, whereby free blood glucose monitoring and information about diabetes were offered.

The campaign was organised by Vivian Corporation, with the support of ACCU-CHEK Active, a blood glucose meter produced by Roche Diagnostics, the Gozo Ministry and Victoria council.

Vivian Corporation, together with the Outpatients Department at Gozo General Hospital, set up an information centre at Independence Square, Victoria, where the public could ask questions and make useof the educational material and pamphlets on diabetes.

Participants, who were askedto fill in a form, will be followedup in another campaign on November 17.
