A photograph in an article about childhood asthma in today’s paper shows a boy using an inhaler. Unfortunately the boy is seen using the inhaler directly in his mouth.

This is the way that inhalers should never be used in children. It is an inefficient way to deliver the medication to the lungs. The correct way combines the inhaler with a spacer device, which greatly improves the effectiveness of the anti-asthma treatment.
