I wonder if the owners of a particular café in Birkirkara are coaching their staff to live up to the establishment’s name and be “friendly” with the patrons.

I ask because lately my wife and I dropped in for a cup of coffee and a snack and I was addressed as Ġuż. When I did not finish my snack, the waitress argued that I should have opted for a lighter snack once I was not such a heavy eater. Her arrogance and shocking body language left me speechless.

Perhaps it would be wiser if the owners started coaching their staff to be more courteous and less “matey”. Otherwise, patrons will soon have their backs slapped on being served a cappuccino.

And that is not recommended.
