Family Affairs and Social Solidarity Minister Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca yesterday took up almost all of question time in Parliament to answer several questions from both government and Opposition MPs.

The order paper actually slated her to answer no less than 22 PQs, but question time ran out.

This seemed to be a direct reaction to one of the questions, by Opposition MP Clyde Puli, who criticised her for all too often answering a PQ by simply saying that a reply would be forthcoming in a later sitting.

Minister Coleiro Preca said she had received 75 written questions and 92 oral ones, for a total of 167. She added that only four oral and six written questions were still pending (ostensibly after yesterday’s answers).

She said Mr Puli should appreciate that PQs addressed to her ministry called for painstaking research and statistics which took time to prepare if the answers were to be precise.
