Three Premier League players were handed a two-match ban and another five were suspended one game yesterday.

Floriana defender Eric Akoto and Qormi forward Jorginho received a two-match suspension after both were shown a straight red card during Saturday’s encounter.

Sliema Wanderers winger Danail Mitev was also hit with a two-match ban after his sending-off in the dying stages of his side’s 2-1 defeat to Balzan Youths last weekend.

Jonathan Francica, who was also dismissed following an altercation with Mitev, was one of three Balzan Youths players who received a one-match ban yesterday.

Albanian defender Bledjon Guga and Bjorn Bondin were also sanc-tioned after collecting a fourth yel-low card on Sunday.

Andrew Cohen (Hibernians) and Gianluca Calabretta (Ħamrun Spartans), were also suspended for one match for four yellow cards.
