Africans Djamel Mesbah and Rodney Strasser yesterday joined Milan from struggling club Lecce, who announced the news on their website.

France-born Algeria midfielder Mesbah has completed a permanent transfer to the Serie A champions while Sierra Leone international Strasser’s loan deal to Lecce has been terminated early.

As part of the deal, Lecce have acquired part-ownership of Milan teenage striker David Speziale, who will play in Puglia next season.

Mesbah and Strasser are further midfield reinforcements for Milan, who also signed German Alexander Merkel on loan from Genoa.

Merkel is part-owned by Milan, where he played last season, and Genoa but had been assigned to the Ligurians this season.
