A contemporary theatrical cabaret commissioned by the Valletta 2018 Foundation, Balzunetta Towers is being staged this week as part of the Malta International Arts Festival.

The original show treats one of Malta’s most flagrant well-kept secrets –  Balzunetta – known by many as Strait Street’s naughtier sister in Floriana. The theatrical cabaret will feature an original score by renowned jazz maestro Dominic Galea whose family was born and bred in Balzunetta.

The story – a satire and a comedy– was penned by Alfred Sant while poet Albert Marshall wrote the lyrics to the songs.

Producer and director Sean Buhagiar will ensure a fresh take on the notorious Balzunetta myth.

Balzunetta Towers runs from today until Sunday at Pjazza Teatru Rjal, Valletta, at 9pm. For more information and tickets, visit www.balzunettatowers.com or call 2122 3216.
