The Daily Mail’s edition of February 11 carried boldly a two-inch headline Christianity Under Attack, fortified on the inside by a lengthy essay by George Carey, a former Archbishop of Canterbury entitled Our Faith Under Siege plus an editorial and a court report Assault On Britain’s Christianity Heritage for good measure.

Readers have been left with a very bitter taste of blatant lies and anti-religious sentiments...- John Azzopardi, Żabbar

Reading all that saddened me deeply but I was not surprised at all because the same thing happened in Malta.

I have three letters yet to go to print but I concede that my religious convictions and opinions can be censored or deleted outright by the editor. This may be due to the enormous amount of letters the editor receives every day. I tried my best to stop the onslaught, maelstrom and siege of our Christian beliefs and realities but further efforts do not depend on me.

However, I have some facts or words that were wrongly attributed to me, which I would like to clarify but never given a chance. I am sure the editor is not fully aware of this and the theists’ point of view has been discarded and ignored.

In the meantime, readers have been left with a very bitter taste of blatant lies and anti-religious sentiments like “as such, no proof exists of Jesus’s existence” and if He existed, His life’s account in the Bible was compared to Ulysses, Harry Potter, Robin Hood and King Arthur. Incredibly, these have all appeared, blasphemously in print with no confrontation or negation whatsoever.

I am sure the editor does not approve such a one-sided exposure.
