I absolutely hate the idea of, and the necessity for, divorce but sometimes it is the only reasonable answer.

When asked why God does not intervene to prevent horrible diseases, misdeeds and terrible disasters, the Church says that these are “God’s will”.

I am sure that no good person gets married planning anything other than a full and loving life with their chosen spouse, but people change! I believe this transformation must also be “God’s will”, so, if this alteration is big enough to render the marriage partnership unsustainable that also must be accepted as such.

I have no wish to second-guess the Almighty but, it seems to me, by denying that all serious changes are part of His plan, that is exactly what the Church is doing! I believe that the fundamental alterations in people that create incompatibility in the place of love should be recognised as “God’s will” and that the Church should, in such circumstances, actually support and facilitate divorce proceedings.
