I have been a regular reader of The Times for the past 50 years or so and have always accepted to pay more when the price was increased. Last Saturday, May 14, I was given a free (really?) copy of the new TV Guide for an additional price of 40c!

I object strongly to such an unfair and forced method of promoting the new guide, especially when I am not interested in a TV guide.

The guide front cover shows that if I opt to buy it separately I will have to pay 60c. I suggest that the decision be reversed and the price of The Times left at 60c, charging 40c for those who wish to buy the guide. A marketing strategy to force-feed regular readers will certainly be counterproductive for the sales of The Times on Saturday.
