I cannot but endorse I.M. Beck’s comments (October 5) regarding the sterling work being done by a handful of heroic volunteers, backed by some corporate sponsors, to try and save our Notarial Archives from further shameful neglect.
These good souls work unobtrusively, silently and diligently in order to preserve a truly unique source of our national identity for future generations.
Working on a near impossible task, they need every encouragement and support but, more than anything else, they deserve some financial propping up to achieve their noble mission.
I encourage members of the local business community to drop in at No. 45, Archbishop Street, Valletta to see for themselves what is happening there.
I am sure that after they have seen what I witnessed, like myself, they will not only find the experience ‘awesome’ but, more importantly, come out with a resolve to somehow make a difference, no matter how small, to save a hidden gem of our national heritage.
