Immediately upon being elected to Parliament for the Democratic Party and Forza Nazzjonali, Godfrey Farrugia declared (June 22) that his election sends a strong signal to those in favour of the common good. That’s very good.

Now that the general election is over and the new administration is in place, Maltese society, where sovereignty really lies, should see to it that the convention on the Constitution is organised and chaired by the President for the common good… with civil society taking centre stage.

Farrugia and institutions like the University of Malta, the Ġużè Ellul Mercer Foundation, the Academy for the Development of a Democratic Environment, the Today Public Policy Institute, the Centesimus Annus Foundation – Malta should take the initiative and help the President carry out this very vital national task for the common good of Maltese society.
