Months after the Government promised better security arrangements at the Gozo law courts, following a courtroom stabbing incident, talks on the installation of an X-ray machine at the entrance are still going on between the courts in Malta and Gozo.

The ongoing talks were mentioned by Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono in reply to a parliamentary question by Gozitan Labour MP Justyne Caruana.

In her question, Dr Caruana pointed out that people were getting increasingly annoyed at the lack of privacy in hand searches of whatever they brought into the building.

In another PQ, Dr Caruana said lawyers were frequently spending all day in court with not even a vending machine with food and beverage, all in the name of security. She asked if there could be at least a water supply in the building.

Minister Debono said the court administration would not object to lawyers bring bottles of water with them into the court building.
