The celebratory concert held recently by La Valette Band Club was a huge success.
The only discordant note, however, was the compere’s reading verbatim the programme notes in Maltese. It would have been more appropriate and welcoming to the British patrons if a short introduction in English were made before every item.
Admittedly, a short welcoming few words were addressed to the British audience before the actual start of the programme.
After all, the Maltese audience were well catered for in the attractive programme which was free of charge, if one ignores the small donation.
Besides, brief notes in English could have been easily included in the printed programme itself.
Otherwise, it was quite an excellent and enjoyable concert.
