Tottenham suffered a severe setback in their attempt to win the Premier League title last week after crashing to a 5-2 defeat at Arsenal in the north London derby.

Harry Redknapp’s side were leading 2-0 at one stage but two Arsenal goals late in the first half turned the match on its head.

Spurs are now ten points adrift of leaders Manchester City.

Tomorrow, Tottenham host second-placed Manchester United at White Hart Lane and they will be looking to end a poor run of results against the Red Devils on home territory.

In fact, Spurs have failed to beat United at home in the last 10 seasons, as follows:

(Spurs-United) 2010-11: 0-0; 2009-10: 1-3; 2008-09: 0-0; 2007-08: 1-1; 2006-07: 0-4; 2005-06: 1-2; 2004-05: 0-1; 2003-04: 1-2; 2002-03: 0-2; 2001-02: 3-5.

The defeat at the Emirates hurt the Spurs deeply as they are also facing uncertainty on the future of their manager who is constantly being linked with the vacant England job.

Tomorrow, the Spurs will have key player Scott Parker missing. He was dismissed at the Emirates.

United’s last-gasp win at Norwich kept them firmly in the title race, just two points adrift of City.

The evergreen Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs came to the side’s rescue in the absence of striker Wayne Rooney, who is expected to return tomorrow. Giggs netted a stoppage-time winner in his 900th appearance for United.

City, buoyed by their 3-0 trimming of Blackburn, will be involved in a Lancashire clash against lowly Bolton at home this afternoon.

The return of Carlos Tevez will keep the other City forwards on their toes now as Edin Dzeko is frustrated at the lack of first-team action at Eastlands despite having 18 goals to his name so far.

The Citizens have won their last five matches in all competitions and along with Liverpool remain the only sides still unbeaten at home in the league this season.

Buoyed by their formidable showing in the derby, Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal take on Liverpool at Anfield in today’s early kick-off.

Liverpool are also in high spirits after winning their first silverware in six years following the hard-earned League Cup triumph over Cardiff at Wembley.

Chelsea, who could lose manager Andre Villas Boas if they fail to progress in the Champions League, play guests to West Brom at the Hawthorns today.

West Bromwich are now plying in much safer waters following back-to-back wins against Wolves (away) and Sunderland (home) in their last two matches.

Newcastle will be involved in a north-east derby against Sunderland at St James’ Park.

The Magpies will also be in search of a double after their away win over the Wearsiders through a Ryan Taylor netting.

Everton, meanwhile, are enjoying their best run of the campaign.

They are unbeaten in seven league and cup matches.

Today, Everton travel to London to face troubled Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road.

The Evertonians have a score to settle with QPR as on the first day of the season the London team beat the Toffees 1-0 at Goodison Park.
