Golf: Smylie Kaufman produced an incredible final round to win his maiden PGA Tour title at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas. The 23-year-old American, playing his fifth PGA tournament, started the day seven shots behind overnight leader Brett Stegmaier but shot a 10-under 61 to take the title. Kaufman finished his round two-and-a-half hours before the final pair were done, but he watched all challengers fail to pass his clubhouse mark, with six players ending a shot behind on 15 under.

Horse Racing: Racing authorities in Australia are in shock after shots were fired at the home of Terry Bailey, Racing Victoria’s chief steward. Bailey has been a central figure in the battle against corruption in the sport and was in his home along with his wife and two daughters when the attack happened but no-one was hurt. Despite the shocking incident, Bailey stressed it would not deter him in his efforts to clean up the sport. “There’s a lot people relying on us to ensure there’s a level playing field and we’ll keep doing that, we’re not going to walk away from that,” he told reporters.
