Golf: Spencer Levin defied difficult windy conditions in Ohio to post a three-under par 69 to take the third-round lead of the USPGA Tour’s $6.2 million Memorial tournament. Levin had a 54-hole total of eight-under par 208, one shot in front of overnight leader Rory Sabbatini. Rickie Fowler carded a three-under 69 to rise to third on 211, with 14-time major champion Tiger Woods alone in fourth after a one-over 73 for 212. Woods struggled coming in, making the last of his four bogeys at the par-four 18th.

Rowing: Australia’s four-time Olympian Duncan Free has announced his retirement from rowing after succumbing to a long-term rib injury. The 2008 Olympic gold medallist in the men’s pair was attempting to compete at his fifth Games in London next month but has been troubled by the ongoing rib cartilage issue. Free, 39, was on course to compete in London until he was hit by a car while cycling on Queens-land’s Gold Coast, sustaining a fractured right leg and resulting in longer term complications to his ribs.

Athletics: Great Britain’s Mo Farah (picture) says he is targeting the 10,000 metres at the London Olympics and will wait to see how he feels before deciding whether to go for a double in the 5,000. “I am going to run the 10,000 for sure because it is the first race,” Farah said yesterday. “I will see how I feel after that. It depends how I come off in the 10,000.” Last year, Farah doubled at the World Championships, winning gold in the 5,000m and silver in the 10,000m. Both races were determined by sprints to the finish in the home straight.

Cycling: Australia’s Luke Durbridge, riding for GreenEdge, just beat Britain’s triple Olympic champion Bradley Wiggins to win the 5.7 kilometre Dauphine Libre prologue yesterday. The 21-year-old junior world time trial champion crossed the line one second up on Wiggins in the race against the clock. World time trial champion Tony Martin took fifth, five seconds behind. Today’s first stage is a 187-kilometre race from Seyssins to Saint-Vallier.

Wrestling: The male coach of India’s junior women’s wrestling team has been suspended after four of his athletes accused him of sexual harassment. The allegations were made in a letter sent to India’s sports minister by the unidentified wrestlers, who said the coach misbehaved and tried to enter one of the women’s rooms during a training camp. The coach has been temporarily suspended while the inquiry continued. Women’s wrestling has been growing in stature in India after it was included in the Commonwealth Games for the first time when the country hosted the event in 2010.

Swimming: South Korean Park Tae-Hwan continued his unbeaten run at the Santa Clara Grand Prix in California on Saturday, cruising to victory in the 200m freestyle. Park clocked 1min 46.88sec, finishing almost two seconds ahead of the field. Park opened the meeting on Thursday with victory in the 800m freestyle, and won the 100m free and 400m free on Friday. Michael Phelps opted not to compete in the final event of USA Swimming’s Grand Prix series.

Basket, NBA: Kevin Durant scored half of his 36 points in the fourth quarter on Saturday as Oklahoma City Thunder beat San Antonio Spurs 109-103 to tie the NBA Western Conference Finals at two games apiece. Defensive stalwart Serge Ibaka contributed with some unexpected offence, scoring 26 points on perfect 11-for-11 shooting for Olkahoma City Thunder, who improved to 7-0 at home this post-season. San Antonio, who won the first two games at home, will try to reassert themselves when they host game five tonight.
