Costa Rica: A stoppage-time penalty by Joel Campbell gave Costa Rica a 4-3 friendly victory away to Russia. The visitors raced into a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Randall Azofeifa and Bryan Ruiz. Alexander Samedov pulled a goal back for the home side, but Vasili Berezutski scored an own goal to put the Central American side 3-1 up. A quick-fire double from Artem Dzyuba brought Russia level but Campbell  had the last laugh as his penalty in added time gave Costa Rica victory.

Wimbledon: AFC Wimbledon have moved above MK Dons in the English Football League standings for the first time in their history. Neal Ardley’s side claimed their first-ever victory over Oxford – winning 3-1 – yesterday to move up to 10th in  League One, one point above the Dons who lost 1-0 at home to Port Vale later in the afternoon.

Fosu-Mensah: Timothy Fosu-Mensah will sign a new £5.2m contract at Manchester United after the international break, The Sun reported yesterday. The 18-year-old Dutchman is understood to have agreed a four-year deal at Old Trafford that will come into force once his current deal expires at the end of this season.
