Vrsaljko: Atletico Madrid have signed Croatia full-back Sime Vrsaljko from Sassuolo on a five-year contract. The 24-year-old was a key player in Sassuolo’s rise to a sixth-placed finish in Serie A last season but instead of playing Europa League football with the Italian team, he will experience the Champions League with recent finalists Atletico.

Coloccini: Long-serving captain Fabricio Coloccini has decided to end his eight-year association with Championship side Newcastle United after terminating his contract by mutual consent. After scoring seven times in his 275 appearances during his spell with the Magpies, the 34-year-old defender will return to his native Argentina to join San Lorenzo.

Tomkins: Crystal Palace have confirmed the signing of James Tomkins from West Ham for a fee of £10 million. The central defender, 27, has signed a five-year contract to leave the club he turned professional with. He becomes manager Alan Pardew’s third summer recruit after the arrival of club-record signing Andros Townsend, and France goalkeeper Steve Mandanda.

Rebic: Eintracht Frankfurt have signed Croatia striker Ante Rebic on loan from Fiorentina. Rebic has made the switch on an initial one-year deal but the Bundesliga side also have the option to buy the 22-year-old. The forward will link back up with compatriot Niko Kovac at the Commerzbank Arena, having played under the Eintracht coach for both Croatia Under-21s and Croatia.

Fer: Swansea City have signed Netherlands midfielder Leroy Fer on a three-year contract to complete a permanent move to the Liberty Stadium from Championship side Queens Park Rangers, the Premier League club said yesterday. The 26-year-old, who played and scored for his country at the 2014 World Cup, joined the Welsh club on loan in January and made 11 league appearances to help them finish 12th last season.
