Michail Antonio has signed a new contract to commit his future to West Ham until 2020.

The promising winger arrived last summer from Nottingham Forest for £7 million and – after initially being little more than a squad player – featured regularly for Slaven Bilic’s first team.

He had originally signed until 2019, but his new terms are expected to reflect his increased importance to the English Premier League club.

Mendy eager to test himself in England

New Leicester signing Nampalys Mendy is looking forward to testing himself in the English Premier League.

Prior to completing his move from Nice to the English champions, Mendy’s career had been solely spent in French football.

The 24-year-old midfielder said: “I’m excited to play in the Premier League because it’s my first season in it. I came from France and today I’m at a Premier League club – it’s my dream.

“The Premier League is physically stronger and faster and in Ligue 1, it’s more about technique... so it’s very different.”

Guendogan targets September return

Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Guendogan has said his recovery from a knee injury sustained in May is progressing well, with the German confident he can regain full fitness by September.

Guendogan, who joined City from Borussia Dortmund last month, was ruled out of Euro 2016 after hurting his kneecap in training but is keen to link up with manager Pep Guardiola.

“Until now everything is going like we want. The plan was to return at the end of August, start of September and that’s still the plan. No pressure from the doctors and everyone, but I want to be fit as soon as possible,” Guendogan told reporters.

“So, hopefully, I want to be ready at the end of August.”

Rising Brazilian star Gabriel Jesus looks set to shun a possible move to European football this summer after reiterating his desire to stay at Palmeiras.

The likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Inter have been linked with the 19-year-old forward, who is the leading scorer in the Brazilian top flight this season with nine goals.

However, the teenager says he is not looking to leave home-town club Palmeiras any time soon.

“I’m have it totally clear. My intention is to stay with my club Palmeiras,” he said.

“As I’ve always said my desire has always been Palmeiras and I’m not thinking about Europe.

Middlesbrough, who won promotion from the Championship last season, did not disclose financial details of the deal but British media reported that the Riverside club had paid around £12 million for his signature.

The 25-year-old scored one goal in 36 appearances for Atalanta last season and is Boro’s third signing of the close season, following the arrivals of winger Viktor Fischer and defender Bernardo Espinosa.

Valencia land Nani from Fenerbahce

Portugal winger Nani is set to join Valencia from Fenerbahce on a three-year deal, the La Liga club have announced.

The 29-year-old left Manchester United for Turkey in the summer of 2015, having also spent a loan spell back at former club Sporting Lisbon.

During his time at Old Trafford, Nani was part of Alex Ferguson’s successful side and won the Premier League four times as well as the 2008 Champions League final.

The deal taking Nani, who was also a reported target of Stoke City this summer, to Spain is believed to be in the region of €8.5 million.

“Nani will be officially presented as a Valencia CF player in the coming days,” a club statement said.
