Expelled: Four Russian fans will be deported from France after being detained in Lille yesterday. “Two of the Russians were arrested during a fight and two after being found drunk in a car with weapons,” a spokesperson at the Lille prefecture said. The weapons were wooden sticks, a police source said later. Russia’s Foreign Ministry yesterday summoned the French ambassador in Moscow over the detention of Russian fans.

Espinosa: Middlesbrough have announced Colombian defender Bernardo Espinosa is to be their second new signing of the summer. Boro released a statement yesterday that said a deal had been agreed for Espinosa to join them on July 1 when his contract with Spanish club Sporting Gijon has expired. The 26-year-old centre-half has been with Sporting since 2013. Middlesbrough have already recruited Denmark winger Viktor Fischer from Ajax in the off-season.

Brazil Coach: Corinthians boss Tite has been invited to take over as Brazil coach but talks on him replacing Dunga ended early yesterday and will continue soon, the Brazilian Football Confederation said. Dunga was fired after a gloomy second spell in charge of the five-time World Cup winners. He was ousted after his side lost to Peru and were eliminated from the Copa America at the group stage. Tite is the overwhelming favourite to succeed him.

Barnsley: Paul Heckingbottom has been appointed Barnsley head coach on a permanent basis. The former Tykes player has put pen to paper on a 12-month rolling contract following a hugely successful spell as interim boss last season. Heckingbottom took over first-team affairs in February after Lee Johnson left to become manager at Bristol City and the 38-year-old went on to win the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at Wembley before clinching promotion back to the Championship.
