Armero: Udinese defender Pablo Armero was arrested this week for alleged domestic violence. According to Miami Police, the incident occurred in the early hours after Armero and his wife had returned to their room at the Metropolitan Hotel from a night out of drinking. Reports said hotel staff called the police as soon as they heard screams coming from the Armero couple’s room.

Monk: Former Swansea manager Garry Monk appears to be the man Leeds want to replace Steve Evans. Leeds announced Evans’s protracted departure on Tuesday, saying they wanted to go in a different direction to the Scot. Monk is not thought to be one of those the club chief met while Evans was in place but he now looks to be the front-runner, with some reports suggesting talks have begun.

Bruma: Inter are in talks over the transfer of PSV defender Jeffrey Bruma. Algemeen Dagblad said Bruma has emerged as a top target for Inter who are seeking reinforcements with Jeison Murillo linked with a move elsewhere. “My conversation with Inter was about how they’d see me in their team for next season,” Bruma said.

Hearts: Hearts have announced six players have left Tynecastle following the end of their contracts. Spanish midfielder Miguel Pallardo leaves after spending two years at the club, while Polish defender Blazej Augustyn exits following a year in Gorgie. They are joined on the departures’ list by goalkeeper Neil Alexander, whose release was announced last week. Meanwhile, U-20 players Jahmal Howlett-Mundle, Sean McKirdy and Liam Henderson have also left the club.

Pecchia: Rafael Benitez’s bid to lead Newcastle back to the Premier League at the first time of asking has suffered a blow after his assistant was appointed manager of Verona. Fabio Pecchia has been named boss of the Italian side, who finished bottom of Serie A last season, having served alongside Benitez at Napoli, Real Madrid and, latterly, St James’ Park. Benitez was unable to keep Newcastle in the top flight following his ap-pointment as Steve McClaren’s successor in March.

Serie B: Promotion play-off SF (second leg) – Pescara vs Novara 4-2 (agg: 6-2). Final – Pescara vs Trapani (June 5 and 9).
