Young nominee: Young Celtic fan Jay Beatty has been nominated for the Scottish Professional Football League goal of the month award. The 11-year-old, who has Down’s Syndrome, was a guest of Hamilton when they hosted Celtic in the Scottish Premiership on January 17, and he netted a penalty on the New Douglas Park pitch during half-time. That earned him a place on the SPFL’s online vote for the best goal scored in January.

Douchez: Goalkeeper Nicolas Douchez has signed a one-year contract extension with Paris St Germain. Douchez joined the club in the summer of 2011 and has since made 33 appearances, six of them in Ligue 1.

Coentrao: Real Madrid had mixed news on the injury front yesterday, with centre back Pepe returning to training but fullback Fabio Coentrao joining a lengthy list of sidelined players. Coentrao had picked up a calf muscle injury, Real said.

Martin: Cordoba goalkeeper Juan Carlos Martin has signed a two-year contract extension with the Primera Division club. The 27-year-old, whose previous deal was set to expire this summer, joined Cordoba in the summer of 2013 from Hercules and subsequently helped the Andalusian outfit gain promotion to the top flight for the first time in 42 years.

Charged: Chelsea and Everton have been charged by the FA after Wednesday’s match. Tempers flared in the 86th minute of Chelsea’s 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge as players from both teams confronted each other and Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic went unpunished after grabbing Everton midfielder McCarthy in a tussle. Ivanovic will face no action after the FA reviewed the incident and did not agree it was a sending-off offence.
