Dutch DJ Martin Garrix will be closing off this year’s edition of Isle of MTV in Malta, the Malta Tourism Authority and MTV said yesterday.

As one of the world’s youngest DJs, 18-year-old Garrix placed fourth in the DJ Mag Top 100 in 2014, as a result of sensational breakout dance anthem Animals. The monster hit received almost half a billion views on You Tube and topped the charts around the world, earning platinum status in the US.

Commenting, Garrix said: “I can’t wait to play Isle of MTV; it’s such an amazing event with some of the best crowds in the world!”

Returning to Malta for the ninth consecutive year, Isle of MTV will take place once again at the Granaries in Floriana on July 7. Additional performers will be announced in the coming weeks.

The open-air concert – which attracts a crowd of some 50,000 music fans each year – will be filmed and edited into a 60-minute special that will broadcast across 20 MTV channels throughout Europe.
