Pastore: The agent of Javier Pastore has brushed aside reports linking his client with a move away from Paris St Germain this summer. PSG are reportedly willing to listen to offers for the Argentinian playmaker. “There is no possibility that Pastore will return to Italy next season,” Pastore’s agent Marcelo Simonian said. “Pastore will remain at Paris St Germain.”

Gomez: Sunderland have signed Spanish midfielder Jordi Gomez from Wigan on a three-year contract. The 29-year-old becomes the second new recruit at the Stadium of Light in two days after full-back Billy Jones agreed to join Black Cats boss Gus Poyet on Wearside.

Johansson: American international Aron Johannsson has extended his contract with Dutch club AZ Alkmaar days after scoring for his country in a World Cup warm-up international. Asian Cup: The United Arab Emirates have submitted a bid to host the expanded 2019 Asian Cup, the Asian Football Confederation has said, with competition expected to come from Saudi Arabia and Iran. Yesterday was the deadline for countries to submit their proposals to host the tournament for Asia’s best 24 international sides, which expands from 16 after next year’s event in Australia.
