FA Youth Cup: Norwich won the club’s first FA Youth Cup since 1983 with a hard-earned 3-2 second-leg victory over holders Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The Canaries were defending a slender 1-0 advantage from the first leg following a stoppage-time penalty from captain Cameron McGeehan, who was once on Chelsea’s books.

Santana: Former South Africa coach Joel Santana left Brazilian side Bahia after five weeks in the job the day after his team lost 7-3 to rivals Vitoria. Following Sunday’s defeat, around 50 fans invaded the club’s training headquarters. Reports said they were persuaded to leave by the police before the players returned from the game to collect their cars. The Brazilian championship starts at the end of May, yet six of the 20 teams have already changed coaches in the state championships.

Beattie: James Beattie has been appointed as Accrington’s first-team manager with immediate effect. Stanley have been without a manager since Leam Richardson left to join former boss Paul Cook at Chesterfield at the end of April. Beattie, 35, arrived at the club as player/coach and made 27 appearances this season.

Griffiths: Hibs striker Leigh Griffiths has collected his third award of the season after being named Scottish Premier League Player of the Year. The on-loan Wolves frontman scored his 28th goal of the campaign with a stun-ning free-kick in Sunday’s derby win over Hearts and adds his latest award to the Hibs club prize and PFA Young Player of the Year trophy he has already collected.

AEK Athens: AEK Athens said yesterday they were preparing to declare bankruptcy and seek relegation to the third division. AEK were relegated from the Super League for the first time in their 89-year history in the season that ended this month. They are in serious financial difficulties and re-ported to owe €170 million in taxes.

Sanctions: FIFA has extended bans imposed on eight Estonian players and a Lebanese footballer to take effect worldwide. The eight Estonian players each received a one-year ban for receiving money from a bookmaker while the Lebanese player was banned for life following an investigation into betting and corruption.
