LEVSKI SOFIA: Levski Sofia fans, disgusted by their team’s recent displays, have demanded the Bul-garian club field a junior team to complete the season. Levski, chasing their 27th league title, have failed to win in four of their last five league games. “We insist a team, made up only of juniors, to finish the season,” Levski fan clubs said yesterday. “As fans of Levski, we’re brought up in totally different values, unknown to you (the players).”

AIK STOCKHOLM: A Swedish TV programme has alleged that the AIK Stockholm board has been infil-trated by members of the club’s hooligan firm. The hour-long ‘Uppdrag Granskning’ show said the ‘Firman Boys’ hooligan group had members on the board at the club but AIK chairman Johan Segui refuted the claims. “As far as I know no-one on our current board is ex-Firman Boys because you can’t be in Firman Boys and sit on the board,” said Segui who is a former member of the Hell’s Angels group.

KRUSE: Borussia Moenchen-gladbach have boosted their front line for next season by signing Freiburg striker Max Kruse on a four-year contract. Kruse has scored nine goals this season including two against Gladbach on March 30. “We are delighted Max Kruse has decided to join us,” said sports director Max Eberl. “He is fast, skilful and can be used in a number of positions to strengthen our front line.”

ASIAN CUP: Malaysia have joined the long list of countries vying to host soccer’s 2019 Asian Cup. Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) leaders made the decision at a executive committee meeting in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday. Bahrain, China, Iran, Kuwait, Lebanon, Myanmar, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates have all expressed interest in hosting the region’s premier international tournament won for a record fourth time by Japan in 2011.
