Pellegrini: Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini will arrive in Germany in time for the Champions League quarter-final against Borussia Dortmund today after returning to Chile for the funeral of his father. Malaga defender Martin Demichelis said Pellegrini had not told his players anything before that game. “He will be with us tomorrow and we will try everything to advance for him,” Demichelis told reporters.

Libya: Libya plans to build a new 60,000 seater stadium for the hosting of the 2017 African Nations Cup finals, sports minister Abdus-salam Guaila said. A second stadium for the tournament, seating 23,000 spectators, is planned for Misrata. Matches would also be held in Benghazi, the Libya news agency reported. The announ-cement follows fast on the heels of a decision last month by the Confederation of African Football to again allow continental club competition matches to be hosted in the north African country.

Fiorentina: Fiorentina have suffered a double injury setback with Stefan Savic joining Stevan Jovetic on the sidelines following Sunday’s Serie A draw with Milan. The former Manchester City defender, 22, was withdrawn after 30 minutes of the 2-2 draw in Florence, with initial medical tests yesterday confirming damage to his thigh. Jovetic, meanwhile, was expected to miss out against Milan after hurting his thigh against Cagliari, and his ill-fated start on Sunday resulted in his withdrawal at half-time.

Refs abuse: Businessman Eric Ding Si Yang has been charged with three counts of corruption relating to the sexual bribes case involving three Lebanese soccer match officials, Singapore’s Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau said yesterday. Singaporean Ding, described by local media as a bookmaker, will appear before the judge today, the Attorney General’s office told Reuters.
