I live in a narrow and quaint street in the picturesque Siġġiewi. A well-groomed and neat lane that barely has room for one small car to drive down, hence its name “Narrow Street”. Three months ago, residential works on the façade opposite mine left behind a small but permanent cement “mess” on Narrow Street’s surface.

I have personally visited our local council over 15 times with one request, that the “mess” in front of my house be removed.

It’s only a small amount of debris, but it’s also a small street, and so it sticks out. What was once beautiful, now isn’t.

I’ve heard every excuse and have had my request met with the traditional obliviousness diligently served out by similar offices in authority.

To them I am the “small guy”, an inconvenience, and yet I pay full, high percentage taxes... So you tell me what’s wrong with this picture?

What can I do to get the appropriate authorities to act? I am at the end of my tether...
