It seems that our traffic regulations allow forklifts, agricultural machinery, tractors and other heavy machinery on our roads because these are all issued with number plates.

Much of this heavy machinery is without indicator or brake lights. It makes me wonder if these vehicles are obliged to do VRT tests and if the tests are carried on the same parameters as all the other vehicles. Any other vehicle would fail its test because of a burnt-out indicator light or because it is without a bumper.

So how come these heavy vehicles are allowed on our roads?

While on this subject, once it was said that horses were not allowed on main streets. Has this rule ever been implemented?

Poor creatures; on Sunday mornings some of our roads look like they’ve come out of a Western movie.

My last comment on traffic is that for many drivers, a stop sign at the end of a side road only means blow your horn and the right of way is yours.

With all this traffic on our roads there is need for more traffic educational campaigns.
