The fifth edition of the breast cancer awareness Silhouette Walk will be held on Sunday.

Over the past year, about 350 new cases of breast cancer have been registered at Mater Dei Hospital, highlighting the importance of regular screening, said Gertrude Abela, president of Europa Donna Malta which is organising the walk.

“When a condition is detected from its early days, there are more chances for treatment to be successful,” she stressed, as she encouraged people to join the walk.

Supported by Oysho, the walk will start at 10am near The Mall in Floriana and finish at The Ferries in Sliema.

Registrations start at 9.30am for a €5 donation.

Those participating will be given a T-shirt and carry different coloured paper silhouette cut-outs to show support towards sufferers.

Pink silhouettes will symbolise those who have or know of someone with breast cancer, white represents those who passed away and blue for men who have breast cancer.
